Halogen bulb burns out too fast.?

I have two torch lamps that run through a dimmer and use 110v AC. Both lamps use halogen bulbs. One lamp has had the same bulb for ten years but the other one goes through a bulb once a month. I'm aware of the no touch and vibration problems that halogens have and I'm very careful with them. What's up with that?
